9.14 SUMMARY

Web services is one of the most important technologies that enable reaching out to other applications. It has a rich history of technological developments that led to the state of web services we have today—in SOAP and REST. It is thus supporting one of the strong philosophies of the web by promoting interoperability. We have also seen how the Java environment provides full stack support for web services. It was also observed that it was interoperable by having a Rails client call a Java based web service.
