Why doesn’t the computer hear me?
There could be several different reasons—the microphone might not be close enough to your mouth, it might be muted, or the microphone input level might be too low. If you need to adjust the microphone input level, follow these steps:
In Windows Vista, click Start.
Click Control Panel.
In the Control Panel Home view, click Hardware And Sound.
Click Sound.
In the Sound dialog box, click the Recording tab.
Double-click the microphone you use.
Click the Levels tab, and make adjustments as necessary.
