Introducing MDT 2008
The following sections introduce key concepts for using MDT 2008 to deploy Windows Vista. Specifically, the section titled "Deployment Scenarios" describes the scenarios that MDT 2008 supports, and the section titled "Comparing LTI and ZTI" describes each deployment method that MDT 2008 supports.
This chapter describes how to do both LTI and ZTI deployments. In MDT 2008, LTI and ZTI have a common base of code and functionality that blurs the distinction between the two methods. LTI relies entirely on MDT 2008, the Windows AIK, and potentially Windows Deployment Services (Windows DS). However, MDT 2008 supports two ZTI scenarios:
