Core Networking Improvements
Windows Vista networking components have been designed to offer improved performance, security, and manageability. Most users will never notice many of the most important changes, however, because they function without user intervention or administrative configuration. For example, Windows Vista with its default settings will offer much better bandwidth utilization over high-bandwidth, high-latency satellite and wide area network (WAN) connections. Additionally, IPv6 and 802.1X are built in to Windows Vista. Server Message Block (SMB) 2.0, the protocol used for file and printer sharing, will improve performance when communicating with other SMB 2.0 clients.
