Configures source code automatically
This utility is part of the GNU Configure and Build System (page 931). Software developers who supply source code for their products are faced with the problem of making it easy for relatively naive users to build and install their software package on a wide variety of machine architectures, operating systems, and system software. Toward this end many software developers supply a shell script named configure with their source code. They create the configure script from a file named configure.in. The configure.in file contains information on the system requirements for the software package.
