META DESCRIPTION TAG

Your title tag is the headline of your web site, and your meta description tag is the sub-headline. It's more descriptive and longer than the title tag. If you look at the search engine below, the meta description tag is the black text directly under the blue highlighted link.

Both your title tag and description tag are the only two gateways between a search engine and your web site. Your meta description tag should complement your title tag by providing a more detailed description of what your web site is about. Between the two, there should be no doubt as to who you are and exactly what products or services you provide. And most importantly, your meta description tag should sell the searcher on why they should go to your web site over all the others.

Unfortunately, most business owners leave the creation of their title tag and meta description tag to their web designer. As you can now see, the only one who should be creating these two critical sentences is you, the business owner.
