Partitioning a blockchain and distributing it across different shards needs a variety of actors, as described in the previous section. All these actors in the network will make sure that the collation data of every shard is linked to the main chain. The sharding architecture has several security concerns due to the distributed shards and several types of actors in the decentralized network.
The design of the blockchain is said to be secure if it can maintain an honest majority where more than 50 percent of the validators follow the protocol honestly. The value can be lower if there is an uncoordinated majority.
