To create a transaction to transfer funds, you need to combine one or more UTXOs, just like gathering coins or cash to pay someone. Figure 5.6 shows how two UTXOs that have the values 40 and 10 are combined to create a transaction output of 45 to pay to the other user. The remaining output value of 5 is called the change amount, and this will be addressed back to the creator of the transaction in a similar way to receiving change when we pay for something in a shop:
