Genome encoding schemes
One of the most crucial choices when designing the neuroevolution algorithm is to determine the genetic representation of the neural network, which can be evolved in the following ways
- Standard mutation (see the preceding Mutation operator subsection)
- Combination operators (see the preceding Crossover operator subsection)
At the moment, two major schemes for genome encoding exist: direct and indirect. Let's consider each schema in more detail.
