Refer to Figure 3-1 on this page. Before a QP can be used to send and/or receive messages with a QP of the same type in another CA, software creates the QP and supplies it with the basic operational characteristics that it will use to send and receive messages with its companion QP in the remote CA. In this example, the QP Context of each of the two companion QPs have been programmed (when the QP was setup by software) with the information described in the subsections that follow.
