Summary

Almost every J2EE application requires data, and that data most commonly comes from a relational database. The API of choice for working with a relational database is JDBC. This chapter covered the basics of the JDBC package, how the API is designed, and how it is used. But at this point we've barely scratched the surface of JDBC. The next few chapters provide additional details about and examples of using JDBC.
