Developing EJBs
What should be noted about EJBs is that an application server is required to develop and deploy these components. The Sun J2EE download from its Web site includes a development version of an application server, but this is not considered appropriate for a production environment. Application servers range in price from nothing for open-source products (JBoss) to mid-range prices (JRun and Orion) to high range (IPlanet, WebLogic and WebSphere).
