FEATHERING YOUR LIGHT
“Feathering” a light—as we are using the term here—means aiming it so
that part of its beam illuminates a scene’s foreground and the rest illumi-
nates its background or surroundings. Figure 10.9 shows one, oen useful,
way in which we can use this technique.
However, before we continue, a word of caution is due. How well feath-
ering works—or whether it will work at all—depends largely on how your
