portrait lighting. Using the key triangle as a guide to good lighting is sim-
plicity itself.
All we have to do is move the light around until we see a triangu-
lar-shaped highlight on our subject’s face, such as the one shown in Figure
8.7. e short side of the key triangle should run roughly from the side of
the bridge of the nose to the end of the eyebrow on the shadow side, and its
point should meet the corner of the mouth.
