Setting Up a FaceTime Account

Before someone can call you through FaceTime, you must set up a free FaceTime account (or Apple ID), which relies on your email address to identify your Macintosh. When people using an iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, or Macintosh want to chat with you through FaceTime, they can call you using your email address. If you’ve already registered your email address as your Apple ID, skip ahead to the next section. Otherwise, to set up a FaceTime account, do this:

1. Click the FaceTime icon on the Dock. (If you don’t see the FaceTime icon on the Dock, click the Finder icon on the Dock, click Applications in the sidebar of the Finder window, and then double-click the FaceTime icon.)

2. Click the Create New Account button. A New Account ...
