I use a couple of learning platforms, but I'm on O'Reilly more than anybody else. When you're there, you start learning. I'm never disappointed.I'm always learning. So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.

The field of database is large and, in this integrated approach to software systems design, we have focused on object data modelling, transaction processing, concurrency control, recovery, distribution and the requirements a database system imposes on the underlying operating system. We have not studied earlier approaches to data modelling and query language design. A very brief historical development is given here but a specialist database text should be consulted for background reading (Date, 1995; Korth and Silberschatz, 1991). Bell and Grimson (1992) focus on distributed database systems.
