I use a couple of learning platforms, but I'm on O'Reilly more than anybody else. When you're there, you start learning. I'm never disappointed.I'm always learning. So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
29.8. Summary
The growth in acceptance of object-oriented design concepts embodied by CORBA and Java middleware has been steady, if relatively slow. This style of platform was designed primarily for workplace, industrial and commercial distributed systems and was evolving through the late 1980s and 1990s to exploit local area networks. This style of middleware primarily supports the interoperation of the distributed components of programs. They are assumed to be tightly coupled and continuously available for synchronous communication in the form of object invocation. Large-scale, wide-area, many-to-many communication among mutually anonymous parties was not envisaged.
