I use a couple of learning platforms, but I'm on O'Reilly more than anybody else. When you're there, you start learning. I'm never disappointed.I'm always learning. So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
What are the benefits of immutable messages in the Actor Model?
The Actor Model recommends the use of immutable messages to communicate with Actors, because immutable data has the following benefits:
- The immutable state is easier to reason about
- It is easier to compose immutable behaviors
- It introduces much less boilerplate code for writing/reading behaviors
- It does NOT require the use of synchronization and locks, as no one can update it once it's created
- It is thread safe and fully shareable
