So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Play Application project structure
Before starting Play Framework Web Applications, I feel it's good to understand the Play Application/Project structure. If you are new to this framework, this section is mandatory to understand this chapter's examples.
Like any other applications, we can create Play Projects in many ways. We will use two of them in this book:
- Using an IDE such as IntelliJ IDE or Eclipse IDE
- Using Lightbend (typesafe) Activator Templates (old approach now)
- Using Giter8 Templates
- Using Play Framework GitHub repositories
When we generate our Play Framework skeleton project using one of the available techniques, we will observe the following main folders:
- Top-level project name
