Accept people’s flaws
It’s funny how we set much higher standards for family than for everyone else. We know that this friend can be a bit abrupt, or that one’s not a great listener, or another friend is unreliable. But most of us expect our parents and siblings to behave perfectly. Maybe it’s because you can always find another friend who will be kind, or listen, or who you can depend on. Whereas this is the only mother/father/brother/sister you’ve got so they need to tick all the boxes single-handedly.
