I’ve never seen a split that both parties didn’t contribute to. There has to be responsibility on both sides when things fall apart. I’ve been through a divorce myself and – although it took me a while to admit it – I now freely accept that we both played a part in allowing the relationship to deteriorate to the point where it couldn’t be salvaged.
Often it’s one partner who instigates the split against the other one’s choice. Maybe they have an affair, or just walk out, or behave in a way that makes it impossible for the other one to stay. But whenever I’ve seen this happen, there’s always been a reason why the relationship was already failing. And that reason was always generated by both of them.
