Several models capturing these behavioral features have been developed
from both macroscopic and microscopic perspectives. The macroscopic
approach is mostly developed on the basis of the kinematic wave model,
which is extended to represent the motorcycle- specic behaviors by
considering areal density (Khan and Maini 1999), ltering (Powell
2000), and oblique following (Nair, Mahmassani, and Miller-Hooks
2011). Combining these extensions with a network-wide mixed-
trafc simulation platform such as DynaTAIWAN (Hu et al. 2007)
could help in realizing an area-wide trafc evaluation considering
motorcycles,which would be useful for transportation planning, and
management.
The naïve microscopic approach considers motorcycles ...
