cars. Figure5.10 shows a “waiting area” for motorcycles just behind the

stop line. Motorcycles in this intersection can be divided into two types:

those in the waiting area at the beginning of a green light (shownas

(a)in Figure5.10) and those owing with the passenger cars (shown as

(b) in Figure5.10). Figure5.11 shows an exclusive lane for motorcycle

trafc. These designs are adopted in practice in Taiwan (see Figure5.12)

and some other countries.
