Tools for replication should not be used only in production; they should also be used in the lab to validate that your domain and site design performs as expected.
Replication Monitor (ReplMon) can be run on any Windows 2000 computer, and it gives a detailed graphical representation of Active Directory partitions that exist on every DC in a domain. It shows each DC's replication partners, their USN values, errors, and attributes waiting to replicate.
ReplMon also enables administrators to "kick start" the Knowledge Consistency Checker (KCC) to recalculate the replication topology. This tool is a must for any Active Directory administrator with more than one DC.
