Having a clear picture of your LANs and WAN is paramount to site design. The networking services group within your organization should be able to supply you with statistics showing the amount of available network bandwidth between sites at specific times of the day. This data is usually collected on routers, using network management tools. It is also collected by the carrier that provides the network connectivity between locations. Most carriers can provide reports on network traffic between locations. These statistics, whether supplied by your networking services group or the carrier, should be explained.
