
Managing Preference Manifests
Applications store their preference data in specific formats, which are known only to the
application developers. Therefore, Workgroup Manager has no way of determining or
decoding these formats. In Mac OS X v10.4, Workgroup Manager introduced the notion
of preference manifests, which are built into the application and list various options that
can be managed for that application.
Applications that adhere to the manifest format can have their preference data imported
and stored with user, group, computer, and computer group accounts. When the mani-
fest settings are saved, the application preferences will also be managed. ...
