Associations come in all shapes and sizes. The budgets of most associations are less than $7 million with a median of $3.5 million.1 But some associations have budgets in excess of $25 million, and a few generate more than $1 billion. Larger budgets are associated with larger scope and scale. Greater size, scope, and scale impose complex management challenges and demand responses that are proportionate to the situation.
A $2 million budget, 10-staff association with one office and one board is a different environment from a $40 million, 150-staff association with boards for five different entities and subsidiaries and offices in Chicago, London, Shanghai, ...
