It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Using shaders for materials
Before we proceed, it will be wise to enable a feature of Eevee for rendering to better display real results in the 3D View window. Go to the render panel and enable Screen Space Reflections, as shown in the next screenshot:

When this option is in use, Blender will show reflections and other advanced properties of materials. From this point forward, you must set the shading of your 3D View as rendered for a real-time preview of materials.
