In 3D modeling, you will notice that you can apply the same principles and tools to create different shapes and objects. We just created the legs of our chair and, using the same tools and procedures, we can make the backrest.
Using the orbit tools in Blender, you can set the view to see our model from the top. From that angle, you can quickly select only two faces at the top of our chair. Select two faces on the same side.
Apply three extrudes to those two faces, with lengths of 1.5, 0.9, and 0.4 respectively. You can use extrude region for those extrudes, as shown in the following screenshot:
