This chapter focuses on distributed database security. Database security is an integral part of any
database system, and it refers to the preventive measures to ensure data consistency. In this chap-
ter, view management in distributed DBMSs is discussed in detail. The chapter also introduces
authorization control and data protection both in centralized and in distributed contexts. In a
