It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
This chapter presents the fundamentals of computer networking. Different types of communica-
tion networks and different network topologies are briefl y described. Network protocol is a set
of rules that govern the data transmission between the nodes within a network. A wide range of
network protocols that are used to transmit data within connection-oriented as well as within con-
nectionless computer networks are represented. The concept of the internet and the world-wide
web has also been introduced in this chapter.
