It should be noted, however, that randomized controlled trials are sometimes conducted in an artificial (lab-type) setting – with students carrying out prescribed work tasks – which may restrict their generalizability. Non-randomized trials in a field setting – with employees carrying out their normal tasks within an organizational setting – on the other hand, have a lower level of trustworthiness, but can still be informative for management practice.
