In 2015, Microsoft released Visual Studio Code, which is a text editor that provides the ability to add extensions. While this sounds fairly straightforward on the surface, there are enough extensions available to give a very respectable IDE experience, including IntelliSense and full debug capability. If you're used to Visual Studio-based IntelliSense and debugging, then this environment will be very familiar.
