Generally found in higher performance devices with larger pin counts, sophisticated display interfaces and even graphics acceleration are becoming fairly common. Expect to find parallel LCD/TFT interfaces (for example, 6800 and 8080) on a large number of parts, with interfaces such as MIPI DSI capable of driving inexpensive, high-resolution displays to displays with only a few lines. Hardware protocol conversion ICs can be used to adapt to a number of different display standards, such as LVDS and HDMI. MCUs are now capable of delivering a rich user experience, with added hardware acceleration and efficiently written middleware and drivers. The CPU load is perfectly tolerable as well.
