Visual Studio Code
Before we start creating our local Azure Function, let's look at how we can install the Azure Functions runtime in Visual Studio Code so that we can develop, deploy, debug, and manage Azure Functions directly from Visual Studio Code. The installation instructions are the same across macOS and Windows:
- Open Visual Studio Code on your operating system.
- Click on Extensions in the left-hand menu.
- Search for the Azure Functions extension.
- Be sure to select the one that has been released by Microsoft.
- Click Install for the extension, as shown in the following screenshot:
