CloudWatch Events

As events are emitted whenever state changes happen to AWS resources, you can create rules to filter the events that you are interested in and then send those events to AWS Lambda functions to process the messages and take action. An example of this is, you can filter for the EC2 RunInstances event and within your AWS Lambda function, you can look for required tags on the EC2 instance.
