Here’s the photo-importing technique I use most often.
Step 1. If you have an external media reader, connect it to your Mac.
Step 2. Be sure your camera’s power is off, then remove the memory card from the camera and insert it into the reader. iPhoto recognizes the card and displays the Import pane shown on page 6.
Step 3. Type a name and description for the photos you’re about to import, then import all or some of the photos, as described on the previous pages.
Step 4. After iPhoto has imported the photos, click the Eject button next to the memory card’s name in the Devices list. Finally, remove the memory card from the reader, return the card to your camera, and then erase the card.
