Kerning letter pairs. Some combinations of letters get along better than others. The capital T and capital Y can be particularly standoffish: their shape makes it look like they’re avoiding the character next to them.
Typesetters and designers address this by kerning: decreasing the space between two characters to snug one closer to the other. It’s particularly common in headlines that use large type.
To kern in iPhoto, position the blinking insertion point between the two characters that need some relationship help. Next, choose Edit > Font > Kern > Tighten. Better yet, use the keyboard shortcut:
