So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Applications
The popularity of the smartphone brought about the concept of applications, or apps, as they have now come to be called (see Figure 1.13). The term application has always described a program that provides an interactive user experience for a certain task. Now the culturally new term app, along with its existence on phones, has democratized both their use and public interest in computing.
