I use a couple of learning platforms, but I'm on O'Reilly more than anybody else. When you're there, you start learning. I'm never disappointed.I'm always learning. So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Explore the Possibilities
Although plenty of problem-solving programs are described in this chapter, the universe of programs is vast. Mac OS X is a young operating system, and new software is introduced for it every day. The best way to keep up with the latest and greatest is to visit regularly one of the software tracking sites (http://www.versiontracker.com, http://www.macupdate.com, or www.macshareware.net, for example) and see if there are any interesting new releases. If you install a program you don’t like, you can always delete it.
A final note: if you wind up using any shareware programs, be a good doobie and pay the authors the requested fee for their efforts. Doing so will inspire those programmers to create even cooler stuff for you—and millions of others!
