Selecting Measures
We are now ready for the hardest part of creating a measurement strategy—selecting the measures. As we noted in the introduction, we have identified more than 180 measures for L&D and more than 700 for all of HR. So, the profession does not lack measures! Instead, the challenge is to select the right measures for the coming year or two, understanding that the measurement strategy will evolve in future years, requiring different measures. Moreover, the goal is to select the smallest number of measures required to meet your needs. There is no extra credit for selecting hundreds of measures, most of which would go unused but require valuable time to generate.
