Creating Trust: Organizational Strategies
Interpersonal trust is necessary but insufficient for creating high-trust organizations. Effective managers create trust-sustaining mechanisms—institutional norms, policies, procedures, and structures—that promote trust throughout the organization.[62] To create a work climate that fosters trust:
Develop a collective identity. Bring employees together psychologically by articulating a common vision, promoting shared values, creating joint products, giving employees opportunities to interact with each other, developing feelings of mutual obligation and dependence, and encouraging norms that promote cooperation.[63]
