Generic Main Processes

4.1  INITIATING PROCESSES

4.1.1  General

In this phase, we identify WHAT should be done. With the project char-

ter as the base for the project, a smaller group develops what will be built,

determines the milestones, assesses costs, identies risks, and claries the

basic functional requirements (see Figure4.1).

At the very start, the project manager summarizes information and

authority by writing a project charter and conrms the following impor-

tant issues with the project owner or client:

• Project owner

• Project name

• Property ownership

• Project description

• Background
