Generic Main Processes
4.1 INITIATING PROCESSES
4.1.1 General
In this phase, we identify WHAT should be done. With the project char-
ter as the base for the project, a smaller group develops what will be built,
determines the milestones, assesses costs, identies risks, and claries the
basic functional requirements (see Figure4.1).
At the very start, the project manager summarizes information and
authority by writing a project charter and conrms the following impor-
tant issues with the project owner or client:
• Project owner
• Project name
• Property ownership
• Project description
• Background
