The tail event slack of an activity in a network is the slack at the tail (or starting point) of an activity. In other words, tail event slack of an activity in a network is the difference between the latest event time and the earliest event time at its tail (or starting point or node). In may be noted that TES should be calculated with the help of network after calculating the earliest time (E) and Latest Time (L).
Example II –
In the aforesaid Example I, TES of various activities are computed as under:

| 1-3 | 0 – 0 = 0 |
| 1-4 | 0 – 0 = 0 |
| 2-5 | 9 – 2 = 7 |

| 4-6 | 12 – 3 = 9 |
| 5-6 | 10 – 10 = 0 |
