You Were Selected for the Job: Now What?
Now that you have been placed on an assignment, your goal is to be invited to stay on the project through its completion, and so you need to start off on the right foot. Many consultants feel that they have won once they are placed on an assignment, but beware: you can be asked to leave a project at any time if the client is unhappy with you. Since they are not your employer, they don’t need a legally defensible reason for asking you to leave. Each client has its own tolerance level when it comes to consultants, and you don’t want to find out where that level lies; instead, do what you can to stay on the assignment. Set yourself up for success.
