TNS Editor
Any developer or DBA who works with multiple Oracle databases on many different servers will invariably end up at some point with a need to modify their Oracle TNS Names file. Some people will just open the file in a text editor and have at it. Others will use Oracle’s Java utilities, Net Manager or Net Configuration Assistant (NETCA), but that requires leaving Toad and its user-friendly and productive GUI. Thus Toad offers the TNSNames Editor screen for making short work of even the most complex TNS Names file (unless the file contains IFILE directives).
To launch the TNSNames Editor screen, choose Main Menu → Utilities → TNS Names Editor. The screen shown in Figure 7.9 appears. You might wonder why it offers a split screen or two ...
