It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Toad and the SQL Optimizer
The SQL Optimizer is part of a larger SQL tuning tool sold by Dell Software. The Toad team put part of this package in Toad.
The SQL Optimizer runs your SQL with a variety of options that include various hints and SQL rewrites to find the optimal performing SQL rather automatically.
To start SQL Optimizer, click on the SQL Tuning button 
and select SQL Optimizer from the list of options that then appears or use Database → Optimize → Auto Optimize SQL (see Figure 10.26).
