The single most common database administrative task that many people do is to investigate sessions. You might need to look into a session’s overall status, its locks, blocking locks, waits, current statement, explain plan, long operation status, and numerous other status or performance metrics. Sometimes this results in sessions having traces initiated or even being killed. In fact, earlier versions of Toad called this facility Trace/Kill.
