802.11 WLANs began with simple autonomous devices with simple capabilities. They have evolved to become a critical part of most network infrastructures. Today, they provide high-speed access to sensitive company information, and their use can be directly correlated to substantial productivity improvements. There is no putting the wireless genie back in the bottle. The challenge is how to provide wireless access while still securing company assets.
