Packet Analysis
Packet analysis is the practice of capturing and deciphering packets being transmitted across the air interface. Network administrators use them to visualize the content of packets that are transmitted on a wired or wireless network, although they are also available to cybercriminals that may use them to steal information from packets or to gain network access. There are several freely downloadable open-source packet analyzers. One of the most popular is Wireshark (Originally named Ethereal, the project was renamed Wireshark in May 2006 due to trademark issues).
